Character Sketch
Characterization: (The personality a character displays; also, the means by which an author reveals that personality).
Types of Characterization:
Indirect
Direct
Write a one-page character sketch of one of the characters from your novel. Begin the paper with a general comment (topic sentence) about the character. Be sure to include examples of the types of characterization that the author used to support your character sketch. Use quotes from the book and paraphrase other information. Remember to include page numbers after direct quotes and paraphrased information [i.e. (pp. 23)].
Instructions:
1. Read Hiroshima, Black Rain, or Sadako And The Thousand Paper Cranes (E.S.L.)
2. Write a character sketch of one of the key characters.
3. Length 1 page minimum, 2 pages maximum (1.5 spacing). (rough draft & final)
4. Each page should include at the top of the page the following in the order given:
5. Write your first draft in point form.
6. The final draft of your paper should capture the essence of the characters importance to the novel.
7. Proper grammar, spelling and punctuation are expected.
8. Keep edited version of your work.
