Materials: Notepad, pencil, camera, sketch paper, questions to ask RERF researchers

Assignment 1 – Photo Album

During your tour of Peace Park take photographs of objects of interest that relate to the dropping of the A-bomb/peace. Take the time to make a rough sketch of at least one object of interest (make sure you have a photo of the object so you can refer to it later when you complete your sketch in class).

Create a photo album. The album is to include:

  1. A colorful cover page (Name, grade, Date Due, Subject, Title);
  2. A full page sketch – completed, titled and colored
  3. A minimum of six photographs arranged in an engaging and aesthetically pleasing manner;
  4. At least one page should be detected to A-Bomb related pictures; at least one page to peace related pictures
  5. Each photograph is to accompanied with a description of the picture; and
  6. Add drawings to each page to make them more attractive

Assignment 2 - Relection

During your visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and the A-Bomb Museum take notes about:

  1. The significance of each;
  2. Things you learned;
  3. Emotional impact;
  4. Questions left unanswered; and
  5. What did you find most interesting, disturbing, moving…

Write a one – two page reflection about your visit to these two places. Refer to the notes you took during your tour. While your review will reflect your emotional (subjective) feelings about what you saw, try also to be as objective as possible. Did anything good come out of dropping of the bomb? Be descriptive – here is one time you can really paint a picture with words!

1. Each page should include at the top of the page the following in the order given:

2. Length 1 page minimum, 2 pages maximum (1.5 spacing).

3. Proper grammar, spelling and punctuation are expected.

4. Keep edited version of your work.
